ĐÀ NẴNG — An exhibition featuring 120 photos on the ‘biodiversity in Sơn Trà Peninsula’ opened at Flower Garden park on 84 Hùng Vương street on Tuesday.
The exhibition, entitled ‘Treasure in the city’s inner’, drew the participation of 30 wildlife photographers in Đà Nẵng, focusing on the protection of the endangered red-shanked douc langur (Pygathrix nemaeus) in the Sơn Trà Nature Reserve.
It’s also a communication programme of Đà Nẵng-based centre of Biodiversity Conservation, GreenViet, in raising awareness among the community in protecting the langur and the biodiversity of the 2,500ha Sơn Trà Nature Reserve.
The exhibition will last until Sunday.
The Sơn Trà Nature Reserve, 10km from Đà Nẵng, is known for its rich biodiversity and is home to 300 red-shanked douc langurs, only found in east-central Laos and Việt Nam.
The central city has chosen the red-shanked douc langur as the official mascot of Đà Nẵng at the 2017 APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation) Summit. — VNS
