ĐÀ NẴNG — Đà Nẵng Art Creatives Connection is rolling out the red carpet for art at the Đà Nẵng Museum and Đà Nẵng Museum of Chăm Sculpture from October 30th to November 8th.

The city’s Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism said it is titled ‘History of Tomorrow’, and will be organised in collaboration with local cultural institutions and creative communities, bringing together more than 20 activities, exhibitions, contemporary dance, workshops, art tours, talks and art networking programmes. This includes the participation of artists, curators, artisans, cultural organisations and creative communities from Việt Nam and other regions.

The event will help the city seek active exchanges among cultural institutions and independent art spaces to foster sustainable creative ecosystems and shape Đà Nẵng as a city of ‘Heritage, Creativity, Distinctive Identity’.

A handmade mask is on display at Đà Nẵng City's Fine Arts Museum. The mask is traditionally used by artists performing Tuồng, or classic drama, a traditional art performance in central Việt Nam.

The event will open at 5pm on October 30th at Đà Nẵng Museum, at 31 Trần Phú Street, and at Đà Nẵng Museum of Chăm Sculpture at Number 2 on September 2nd Street.

The historic ancient town of Hội An, which became a proud member of the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN) in the Crafts and Folk Art category in 2023, is also part of the art.

Local traditional crafts, which have been developed and honed in the town for centuries, continue to serve as a significant source of livelihood for numerous families and craftspersons, encompassing trades such as carpentry, terracotta, lantern-making, bamboo work, nipa-palm processing, garment production, and leather crafting in the ancient town.

Many craft villages are popular tourist attractions, including the Non Nước stone sculpture village, Nam Ô fish sauce village, Thanh Hà pottery village, Kim Bồng carpentry village, and Trà Quế vegetable village.

The city, in cooperation with the Swiss Tourism for Sustainable Development (ST4SD) project, has launched the ‘Đà Nẵng Green Stay Criteria’ to promote the coastal city’s green tourism brand.

Đà Nẵng is home to two UNESCO-recognised world heritage sites – Hội An ancient town and Mỹ Sơn Sanctuary – as well as the Chàm Islands-Hội An World Biosphere Reserve site. The UNESCO Memory of the World programme also recognised the Ma Nhai (cliff inscriptions) Collection on Ngũ Hành Sơn (Marble Mountains).
