HÀ NỘI — The culinary heritage project by University of Social Sciences and Humanities students is among the finalists of a reality TV show airing on Việt Nam Television (VTV) from October 17.

Season 4 of New Generation Students will help teams turn their ideas into real-life projects.

“The project aims to revive childhood foods that are gradually disappearing,” said student Lê Hoài Nam. It will also create a digital culinary map, Living Food Map, documenting local dishes and culinary heritage.

“We hope the project will go beyond paper and benefit local communities creating economic opportunities and supporting local people,” Nam added.

Returning for its fourth season, the programme raises the stakes for participating teams.

Teams must demonstrate how their ideas can tackle real-world challenges, from agricultural production and craft village development to cultural promotion, environmental protection, improved livelihoods and practical community needs.

Each project must be rooted in a real story from the students’ school, hometown or local community.

The New Generation Students programme offers total prizes worth up to VNĐ350 million (US$13,500) for outstanding teams. Season 4 also introduces an online contest for students nationwide.

Hosts Khánh Vy and Sơn Lâm will lead the programme, while KOLs including actress Bảo Hân and Miss Việt Nam Global Tourism 2nd runner-up Phạm Hoàng Thu Uyên will accompany teams during fieldwork, offering advice, new perspectives and encouragement.

The show is co-produced by VTV3 and the Ministry of Education and Training, with sponsorship from Herbalife Việt Nam.

After three seasons, the programme has recorded 99.2 million views and two million interactions across platforms. It will air at 9.30pm on VTV3 every Saturday. — VNS
