HÀ NỘI — Photos highlighting Việt Nam’s glorious and historic journey and outstanding achievements during the era of renewal and integration are on display in Hà Nội to mark the national holidays.

The Hà Nội Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism in collaboration with the Hà Nội Exhibition and Information Centre launched the photo exhibition entitled Rạng Rỡ Non Sông Việt Nam (Radiant Việt Nam) on August 28.

The display is one of activities to celebrate the 81st anniversary of the August Revolution and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945-2026).

It aims to inspire patriotism and a sense of national pride and dignity among all strata of the population, especially the younger generation, and introduce national development to foreign visitors.

Speaking at the launch, Deputy Director of the deparment Lê Thị Ánh Mai said 81 years ago, on September 2, 1945, at the historic Ba Đình Square, President Hồ Chí Minh read the Declaration of Independence, founding the Democratic Republic of Việt Nam, now the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam. This was a momentous milestone in the nation's history, ushering in a new era for the country.

"From the historic autumn to the victories won during the resistance wars for national independence and reunification, the Vietnamese people have written an epic of patriotism, resilience and a deep desire for peace. These values continue to be upheld throughout the nation’s ongoing process of renewal, integration and development," said Mai.

"The spirit of independence and self-reliance, along with the aspiration to rise and prosper, continues to illuminate Việt Nam's path of development. The country has steadily affirmed its stature with growing international prestige, while achieving significant milestones in maintaining political stability, pushing economic growth, improving the people's quality of life, and promoting the national cultural identity.

"This exhibition serves not merely as a visual recreation of historical milestones but also as a bridge connecting the past, present, and future, enabling the public to gain a clearer understanding of the Vietnamese nation's journey of building, defending, and developing the country," she said.

The display of 130 works by many renowned photographers is divided into three zones for the heroic and historic autumn; fights for independence and national reunification; and Việt Nam’s renewal, integration, and development.

The organisers aim to deepen public understanding of the stature and profound historical significance of the August Revolution and National Day, while instilling greater pride in the glorious victories of the army and people and the nation’s remarkable achievements over the past 81 years under the leadership of the Party and President Hồ Chí Minh.

The event also seeks to highlight each individual’s responsibility in the cause of national construction and defence in the new era.

It will run until October 10 at the Exhibition House, No 93 Đinh Tiên Hoàng Street, Hoàn Kiếm Ward. — VNS
