HÀ NỘI — Thăng Long Theatre has launched a new programme to enrich art experiences and create more cultural activities during the evening. 

Chuyện Hà Nội – Một Ngày Rất Hà Nội (Fragments of Hà Nội – A Very Hà Nội Day) is part of a series of productions launched by the Hà Nội Department of Culture and Sports to bring traditional art forms closer to residents and visitors.

People's Artist Tấn Minh, director of the theatre, said the programme was developed in alignment with the city's policy on fostering cultural industries and creating high-quality artistic productions.

Beyond diversifying the capital's tourism offerings, the programme aims to boost the night-time economy while gradually building an ecosystem of distinctive cultural products unique to Hà Nội.

Traditional singing is combined with beatbox during the show.

"The programme is expected to provide audiences with a unique artistic experience, contribute to the development of the cultural industry and the night-time economy, and further promote the city's image to both domestic and international visitors," Minh said. 

Under General Director and Music Director Trí Minh, the programme is designed as an art journey that recreates Hà Nội's lively life rhythm from dawn to late night through music, dance and performance art, combined with modern stage technology.

Audiences are treated to the familiar sounds of the đàn bầu (monochord), đàn tranh (zither), bamboo flute and drums through a repertoire of both traditional and contemporary works.

Alongside solo performances, artists combine these traditional instruments with electronic drums and keyboards, blending them with beatboxing, street dance, striking visual effects and vibrant, multicoloured lighting to create a dynamic 50-minute spectacle.

More than discovering the beauty of Hà Nội through a spectrum of emotions in an artistic space rich in cultural identity with a contemporary spirit, the performance also invites the audience to join in.

Audience members receive horns, paper hand fans and clappers and are invited to participate in the performance.

In addition the art performance, typical Hà Nội cuisine with traditional cakes, sweets and lotus tea is served before the show.

The organisers believe that the combination between art and cuisine will bring the best experience and memories to visitors.

Leveraging its prime location in the Old Quarter, adjacent to the Hoàn Kiếm Lake pedestrian zone, the show is expected to become a popular evening cultural destination for both domestic and international visitors.
