HÀ NỘI — Newly crowned Miss Việt Nam 2024 Hà Trúc Linh received the pageant crown along with a cash prize of VNĐ500,000,000 (about US$20,000).

The 21-year-old, standing 1.72m tall with body measurements of 80-59-95cm, captivated the judges and audience with her outstanding performances throughout the competition.

Miss Việt Nam is a prestigious beauty pageant organised by Tiền Phong newspaper. It was first held in 1988 and aims to celebrate beauty, talent, and intelligence among Vietnamese women. Held every two years, the competition has garnered significant attention and is considered one of the most respected beauty contests in Việt Nam.

As the only national beauty pageant, the titleholders of Miss Việt Nam will have the privilege of representing Việt Nam at prestigious beauty pageants.

Phùng Công Sưởng, editor-in-chief of Tiền Phong (Vanguard) newspaper and head of the organising committee for the Miss Việt Nam 2024, said, "The beauty pageant is not just a journey to seek and honour beauty, but it also highlights a noble mission – to create and spread the values of Vietnamese women.

"This includes beauty of soul, intellect, aspirations for contribution, and compassionate heart. The crown and scepter symbolise not only dazzling glory but also a higher calling – the responsibility and tireless dedication of the new beauty queen."

Meanwhile, first runner-up of the beauty pageant Trần Ngọc Châu Anh was awarded with a crown and a cash prize of VNĐ300,000,000 (about $12,500) and second runner-up Nguyễn Thị Vân Nhi received a crown and VNĐ250,000,000 (around $10,400).

The final of the Miss Việt Nam 2024 pageant also selected outstanding contestants for special titles: Most Voted Beauty, Ambassador of Kindness, Ambassador of Tourism and Environment, Ambassador of Media and Arts, and Ambassador of Sports and Fashion. Each award carried a VNĐ50,000,000 ($2,100) prize.

When asked about her immediate plans after winning the title, Linh expressed that she never imagined being crowned Miss Vietnam 2024 and was still overwhelmed with excitement.

"Honestly, I never dared assume I would be called for the top position. Now I'll plan my next steps carefully,” she told Znews.vn.

“I hope the audience will continue to support and look forward to my upcoming journey. It will be a journey filled with contributions, experiences, and always sincerity." VNS
