HCM CITY — More than 150 paintings by 95 painters across Việt Nam are being showcased virtually to raise funds to build houses for needy people in the central province of Quảng Nam.
The exhibition “Gieo Tổ Ấm 2024” (Building Home 2024) displays paintings in different materials such as lacquer, oil, acrylic, and watercolour.
The works’ topics feature the country’s landscapes, people, lifestyle, and portraits. Still-life paintings are also included.
Bùi Trọng Dư from Hải Phòng Province brings to the exhibition two lacquer paintings named Sen (Lotus) 1 and 2, depicting the beauty of Việt Nam’s popular flower.
Dư, a graduate of the Việt Nam Fine Arts University, is known for his lacquer paintings featuring images of Vietnamese women in traditional costumes and lotus.
He has participated in numerous exhibitions in Việt Nam, France and the US.

Painter Đoàn Quốc, a native of the central province of Quảng Ngãi, introduces four watercolour paintings highlighting the beauty of the northern mountainous region and Hội An ancient town.
He also presents two still-life paintings, Hoa Cúc (Chrysanthemums) and Hoa Hướng Dương (Sunflowers).
Quốc, a graduate of the HCM City Fine Arts University, received top prizes at national painting exhibitions, and the Excellence Award in the Goddess of Beauty International Watercolour Flowers Exhibition 2022 given by the International Watercolor Masters Alliance.
The 28-year-old painter is the founder and curator of the Việt Nam Water Colour, and a member of the International Watercolour Society.
He has joined several exhibitions in Việt Nam, and the International Watercolour Exhibition in Fabriano, Italy.
The exhibition also displays paintings by both veteran and young painters such as Nguyễn Anh Dũng, Hồng Quân and Trần Huyền Thanh.
Artist Ngô Trần Vũ of HCM City, the exhibition’s organiser and curator, said: “Around 50-100 per cent of the profits from the painting sales will be used to build ten houses for needy people in Quảng Nam in 2024.”
The exhibition is raising funds until June 30.
