HCM CITY — A collection of photos and memorabilia of Vietnamese soldiers and people during the resistance war is displayed at the HCM City War Remnants Museum.

The exhibition titled “Kỷ Vật Thời Kháng Chiến” (Remembrances of Resistance Days) features 177 photos, documents, and memorabilia belonging to Vietnamese leaders, soldiers and journalists such as water bottles, lighters, hammocks, document bags, and radios.

The exhibits also include medical instruments and tools of military medical corps, and props from art troupes.

Letters sent by people on the frontline and prisoners to their loved ones and families are showcased as well.

Trần Xuân Thảo, director of the museum, said: “The exhibition helps both local and foreign visitors understand Vietnamese patriotism, bravery, humanistic traditions, and love of peace during the war and today.”

He added, “It is a chance to educate young generations about the nation’s patriotic tradition and heroic and indomitable spirit, and national construction and defence.”

Sharing his thoughts on the exhibition, Alan Sedgley, a British visitor, told Việt Nam News that "I was born in 1949, some of these conflicts were on the television screens in ones' youth. ... gradually as the 1960s went on you appreciated more and more that this was a horrendously awful conflict, with terrible things happening. So it's right that this place is here to remind people of what happened, and it has ongoing significance on the status of the world."

The exhibition will run to the end of March. The museum is at 28 Võ Văn Tần Street in District 3. — VNS
