HCM CITY — The glorious history and beauty of the Côn Đảo Island of Bà Rịa – Vũng Tàu Province is highlighted in a photo exhibition at the HCM City Photography Association.

The exhibition entitled “Côn Đảo – Vùng đất thiêng liêng của Tổ quốc” (Côn Đảo – the Sacred Land of the Nation) displays 90 photos by veteran photographers Đoàn Hoài Trung, Nguyễn Phước Toàn and Trần Hữu Minh during their trip to the island in early November organised by the HCM City Party Committee’s Department of Publicity and Education.

The showcase includes aerial photos capturing the beauty of Côn Đảo and its natural landscapes and daily life such as the Hòn Bà Islet and Bến Đầm Port.

The photos also feature the islands’ historical sites such as the Hàng Dương cemetery, home to the graves of heroine Võ Thị Sáu and many unknown soldiers, and the Côn Đảo prison and museum, which are restored as a place to keep alive the memories of thousands of Vietnamese people who fought for national freedom and independence.

Trung said, “I’m proud of having the opportunity to visit Côn Đảo, the sacred land of the nation. During the trip, we took tens of thousands of photos and selected 90 for showcase.”

He added, “The exhibition is expected to help people feel gratitude to soldiers and people who sacrificed for the nation’s independence, and learn more about the changes and development of Côn Đảo today.”

At the exhibition, the artists gifted a photo titled “Toàn Cảnh Côn Đảo Ngày Mới” (Aerial View of Côn Đảo in New Day) to the Department of Publicity and Education.

The exhibition lasts until November 30. The association is at 122 Sương Nguyệt Ánh Street in District 1. – VNS
