HÀ GIANG — From today, the tourist boat service on the Nho Quế River, offering sightseeing through Tu Sản Canyon, has been fully reinstated after a temporary halt of one week.

The Mèo Vạc District People's Committee in Hà Giang Province has informed the press of the outcomes of a meeting between the Nho Quế 1 Hydropower Joint Stock Company and the Tu Sản Agriculture and Tourism Services Co-operative on Tuesday. The agreement reached ensures the resumption of tourist transportation on the Nho Quế hydropower reservoir from 7am on 21st September.

Issues concerning tourist transportation on the Nho Quế 1 Hydroelectric Reservoir will continue to be addressed and resolved by the Mèo Vạc District People's Committee within its remit. Any decisions will be swiftly communicated to the Provincial People's Committee and specific agencies to ensure a satisfactory solution.

The Mèo Vạc District People's Committee has also instructed the Nho Quế 1 Hydropower Joint Stock Company and the Tu Sản Agriculture and Tourism Services Co-operative to collaborate in adhering to the operational guidelines set out by the Mèo Vạc District People's Committee, in conjunction with Decision No. 8280/QĐ-UBND from October 28, 2022.

Earlier, on September 15, the Tu Sản Agriculture and Tourism Services Co-operative had announced a temporary halt in tourist transportation on the Nho Quế 1 Hydroelectric Reservoir. This suspension arose from a disagreement over an interim management strategy for inland waterway tourist transport activities on the Nho Quế 1 hydropower reservoir, involving the Mèo Vạc People's Committee, the Tu Sản Agriculture and Tourism Services Co-operative, and the Nho Quế 1 Hydropower Joint Stock Company.

As a result, from 0:16 on September 9, the Co-operative suspended the transportation of tourists wishing to explore Tu San canyon using cruise ships on the Nho Quế River.

The Nho Quế 1 hydropower reservoir is the sole location where tourists can visit the Tu Sản canyon by cruise ship, and the Tu Sản Agricultural and Tourism Services Co-operative is the exclusive operator of cruise ships in this area.

The Tu Sản canyon, recognised as the deepest in Southeast Asia, is designated as a Vietnamese Scenic Monument. It boasts cliffs reaching 700-800m in height, spans 1.7km in length, and has a depth approaching 1km.

This breathtaking landscape is a standout feature of the Đồng Văn stone plateau in Hà Giang Province. The canyon is nestled at the base of the Mã Pì Lèng Pass, encircled by the meandering Nho Quế River. — VNS
