Farmers on an island in Can Gio District on the outskirts of HCM City have switched to community tourism, learning new skills to welcome guests. But it wasn’t an easy transition for the residents who are more used to working on salt fields then meeting and greeting visitors.
Artisans from noted jewellery-making handicraft villages in the north are demonstrating their traditional skills at a Jewellery Handicraft Festival in downtown Hanoi. An interesting way to learn about Vietnamese handicrafts, in general, and Vietnamese jewellery-making skills, in particular.
This is the latest exhibition hosted by the Australian Embassy to introduce Australia’s unique and vibrant First Nations cultures to a Vietnamese audience. It is part of the programme to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Australia-Việt Nam diplomatic relations in 2023.
Themed ‘The Quintessence of Vietnamese Crafts’, the 2023 Huế Traditional Craft Festival has started to preserve local centuries-old crafts, introducing and further promoting the image of the former imperial city.
The carnival will start on May Day with a low-altitude fireworks display on Võ Nguyên Giáp Street, which comprises four parts: an opening ceremony, stage performances, a street dance parade, and finally, the fireworks.
