HÀ NỘI - Việt Nam Young Orchestra (VYO) will feature the premiere of a petite suite by composer Trần Mạnh Hùng on Tuesday night at Hà Nội Opera House.
The petite suite entitled Thiên Thanh (Colour of Nature) has three chapters embedded with Vietnamese sounds and is deliciated to the VYO.
The melodies in the piece carry the essence of traditional music in the northwestern region, Central Highlands, Chăm ethnic group and imperial city of Huế.
"The green of the mountains, the blue of the sky and the sea, and youthful inspire me to compose the piece," Hùng said.
The concert will be performed by Việt Nam National Symphony Orchestra (VNSO) and VYO under the baton of conductor Tetsuji Honna.
The musicians will play pieces Maurice Ravel's Ma Mère L’Oye Suite; Franz Joseph Haydn's Symphony No.94 and Ottorino Respighi's Pini di Roma – III. I pini del Gianicolo; IV. I pini della Via Appia.
All the proceeds from the event will go to the “Community Funding” of Việt Nam Youth Music Institute to purchase instruments for VYO members as well as for other free community classical music programmes in the future.- VNS
