HCM CITY — A songbook featuring love and women by famous composer and music producer Đức Trí has been released in HCM City.

The book, Tựa Như Gió Phiêu Du (Gone With The Winds), includes love songs that the artist has written, composed, mixed and produced in the 1990s and 2000s.

Trí selected these songs from many of his works about love, youth and women to celebrate his 25-year career.

His book includes his pop hits, such as Anh Biết (I Know), Khi Giấc Mơ Về (When The Dream Comes Back), and Nụ Hôn Đánh Rơi (Missing Kiss), performed by pop stars Mỹ Tâm, Thanh Thảo and Hồ Ngọc Hà.

Ballads such as Ta Chẳng Còn Ai (No One Beside) and Ước Mơ Trong Đời (Wish of My Life) are also featured.

“I hope my songbook can enhance youngsters’ love of Vietnamese music. All of my love songs honour and encourage women,” said Trí, a graduate in composing from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts.

Trí began his career in 1995.

He worked as music manager for pop stars Thảo and Hà in the 1990s.

He has produced music for leading singers such as Hồng Nhung, Phương Thanh and Đức Tuấn.

He produced many albums and MVs featuring talented musicians, including Phạm Duy and Nguyễn Ánh 9.

He has also composed soundtracks for award-winning Vietnamese movies such as Áo Lụa Hà Đông (The White Silk Dress), and Dạ Cổ Hoài Lang (Night Drumbeats Cause Longing for Absent Husband).

He was invited to create songs and music for musical shows by leading theatres in HCM City, including Tiên Nga (Fairy Tale), a musical drama staged by IDECAF Drama Troupe.

Tiên Nga is based on Lục Vân Tiên (The Tale of Lục Vân Tiên), a popular work of 2,076 lines in Nôm, an ancient Vietnamese ideographic script, by the blind poet Nguyễn Đình Chiểu of Bến Tre Province in the 19th century.

The play centres on the topics of love, loyalty, bravery and fair justice.

Trí composed music and created 15 songs for the musical.

Trí has won many top prizes at the country’s leading music awards, such as Cống Hiến (Dedication) and Mai Vàng (Golden Ochna).

His latest concert was organised by Gia Định Audio in HCM City, and Đà Lạt on November 5. The event featured pop stars Hà and Uyên Linh, winner of Vietnam Idol 2010, and young singers Cece Trương, Lân Nhã and Hakoota Dũng Hà. — VNS
