HÀ NỘI — The European Union-Việt Nam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and the EU-Việt Nam Investment Protection Agreement (IPA) promise to bring a number of opportunities for exports and investment between Việt Nam and the EU.

The statement was made by Vietnamese Ambassador to the Netherlands Ngô Thị Hòa at a conference held in the Netherlands on January 10.

Speaking at the event, Oliver Massman, general director of Duane Morris Vietnam LLC, highlighted Việt Nam’s market and advantages for Dutch businesses.

With a long coastline, Việt Nam would be an ideal place for Dutch companies operating in seaports or maritime services to invest in agriculture, high technology and climate change adaptation, Massman said.

He also noted that Việt Nam was welcoming a number of investment projects from foreign countries, especially the Netherlands, which had developed applied sciences.

The Vietnamese ambassador asked for the Netherlands – Việt Nam Chamber of Commerce (NVCC) and the Vietnamese business community to have a stronger voice with the National Assembly, policymakers in the Netherlands and the EU in order to sign the EVFTA and IPA soon, bringing benefits to the business communities of both Việt Nam and the EU.

The conference was organised by the NVCC and drew the participation of more than 40 representatives from economic organisations and enterprises in the Netherlands. — VNS
