HÀ NỘI — Four wind power projects were scheduled to be completed in the south central province of Ninh Thuận by the end of 2018, according to the provincial People’s Committee.
They include the second phase of the Đầm Nại wind power plant in Ninh Hải and Thuận Bắc districts, Mũi Dinh plant in Thuận Nam District, and the Trung Nam and Công Hải plants in Thuận Bắc District.
The first phase of Đầm Nại went into operation in August last year. Covering an area of 9.6 hectares, the Đầm Nại wind power project has a total investment of US$80 million. Its construction began in April 2017.
The 40MW project consists of 16 wind turbines, supplied by Spain’s Gamesa and installed by Việt Nam’s TSV Joint Stock Company and Singapore’s renewable developer The Blue Circle.
By the end of September, Ninh Thuận had 15 more solar power projects with a total designed capacity of 1,100MW. These projects will bring the total number of the projects of this kind in the province to 29, with a combined capacity of over 1,938MW.
Since the beginning of this year, construction has started on 16 projects which are expected to be finished before 2019.
Aiming to become the country’s renewable energy hub, the province is promoting investment attraction and creating the best possible conditions for investors to accelerate the progress of renewable energy projects.
Investors operating in renewable energy will be exempt from land rent during the implementation of projects and benefit from a corporate income tax waiver for four years. Additionally, the projects will also be exempt from tariffs on imported goods. — VNS
