HÀ NỘI — TCP Group on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Central Committee of the Việt Nam National Union of Students (VNUS) to roll out the 'Community Awareness and Action Project on Water Conservation' for the 2026-28 period, targeting students and young people nationwide.
It aims to raise awareness of clean water issues while promoting practical, youth-led actions to protect water resources and encourage sustainable lifestyles.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, VNUS President Nguyễn Minh Triết said protecting water resources must start with awareness and everyday action among young people.
“Accompanying and supporting students in raising awareness and promoting action to protect water resources is an urgent task,” he said.
“This helps equip the younger generation with comprehensive knowledge of the vital role of water for life, public health and the country’s sustainable development.”
He added that changes in behaviour and more economical water use in study and daily life would be critical outcomes of the programme.
“The intellect, creativity and social responsibility of students will be the driving force behind initiatives, applied models and concrete actions to protect and use water resources effectively,” Triết said.
Under the partnership, activities will combine communication and education with community-based initiatives. These include campaigns to highlight the importance of water in daily life and socio-economic development, as well as student-led actions to reduce pollution and promote responsible water use.
The project will also establish a youth network on clean water, linking student organisations, educational institutions and local communities. Notably, it will support technological innovations and circular water management models proposed by students, contributing to the restoration and efficient use of water resources.
Nguyễn Quang Hiền Huy, Country Director of TCP Vietnam, said the company viewed water security as a core development issue.
“Water security is not only an environmental issue but also the foundation for the health, livelihoods and prosperity of every community,” he said.
“TCP Vietnam is committed to supporting this project over the long term and working together to build a sustainable future.”
The initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6 on clean water and sanitation and supports national policies on sustainable development, environmental protection and efficient use of natural resources.
With the participation of youth organisations and students across the country, the project is expected to help translate awareness into concrete community action, contributing to a greener and more water-secure Việt Nam. — VNS
