HCM CITY — As Việt Nam’s stock market moves closer to international standards, corporate governance has emerged as a key yardstick for assessing management capacity, transparency and the long-term sustainability of listed companies.

Against this backdrop, Saigon Beer–Alcohol–Beverage Corporation (SABECO, ticker: SAB) was named among the top eight large-cap companies with the best corporate governance quality at the 18th Vietnam Listed Company Awards (VLCA), underlining the growing role of sound governance in sustaining market leadership.

The award was presented at the 2025 Annual Listed Companies Conference organised by the Hồ Chí Minh Stock Exchange (HOSE), attended by leaders from the Ministry of Finance, the State Securities Commission, representatives of stock exchanges, the Vietnam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation, along with nearly 300 listed companies and financial institutions.

At the same event, SABECO was also presented with a commemorative medal recognising its positive contributions to HOSE’s operations and to the development of Việt Nam’s capital market during the 2000–25 period, marking more than two decades of the company’s engagement with the securities market.

According to the organisers, the 2025 corporate governance assessment was conducted using a more in-depth methodology, with updated criteria based on the OECD Principles of Corporate Governance issued in October 2023, together with the Việt Nam Corporate Governance Code of Best Practices. The higher benchmarks aim to encourage companies not only to comply with legal requirements but also to align more closely with advanced governance practices in the region and globally.

The judging panel noted that large-cap companies, including SABECO, continue to play a leading role in the market thanks to well-structured governance systems, clear board structures, a transparent separation between management and oversight functions, and consistently high standards of information disclosure.

Transparency and comprehensive governance as a foundation for sustainable growth

As a VN30 constituent representing the market’s largest and most liquid stocks, SABECO has been assessed as maintaining stable production and business operations while continuously improving its corporate governance framework in a transparent and standardised manner.

The company has focused on diversifying and enhancing the quality of its disclosure channels, ensuring that shareholders and investors have timely and adequate access to information on strategic direction, business performance and governance practices. All disclosures comply with regulations applicable to listed companies and are updated bilingually in Vietnamese and English on the company’s website and relevant information platforms. Details on ownership structure, major and internal shareholders, the Board of Directors, executive management and related-party transactions are publicly disclosed in the annual report and on the company’s information systems.

Beyond capital market governance, SABECO has also been recognised in 2025 for its efforts in building and managing intellectual property assets, brands and products. According to the Vietnam Intellectual Property Association, which organises the programme honouring outstanding enterprises in intellectual property governance, the SABECO brand was named among the Top 10 most reputable brands and trademarks nationwide. Saigon Special Beer was recognised as a Top 10 Gold Product for quality and reputation, while SABECO was honoured as an outstanding enterprise in intellectual property asset development and management in 2025.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on December 28 in Hà Nội, further reinforcing SABECO’s comprehensive governance approach that links corporate governance with the sustainable development of long-term intangible assets.

Being ranked among the top eight large-cap companies for corporate governance quality at VLCA 2025 is seen as recognition from regulators and the market of SABECO’s consistent efforts to raise governance standards, contributing to greater transparency and the sustainable development of Việt Nam’s stock market. — VNS
