HƯNG YÊN - Nguyễn Hữu Nghĩa, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Hưng Yên Provincial Party Committee, has recently called on Japanese investors to visit Hưng Yên to explore the investment environment and implement projects in the province’s economic zones, industrial parks, and industrial clusters.
Nghĩa made this appeal during a recent working session with a delegation from the Japanese Communist Party, who were visiting Việt Nam to participate in the 11th theoretical exchange with the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Speaking at the meeting, Nghĩa noted that Japan has become one of Hưng Yên’s most reliable and significant partners across various sectors. On the diplomatic front, Hưng Yên has maintained sister-city ties with Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan, since 2015.
Moreover, Hưng Yên and Japan have concluded a range of cooperation agreements covering economic investment, cultural exchange, education, sport, and people-to-people contacts. Annually, Hưng Yên hosts and collaborates closely with Japanese counterparts to strengthen bilateral ties.
The provincial party chief also emphasised that Hưng Yên seeks to continue establishing and expanding friendly relations and investment cooperation with Japanese provinces, cities, and investors.
Based on the Hưng Yên provincial plan for the 2021–2030 period, with a vision towards 2050 approved by the Prime Minister, the province invites Japanese investors to explore the investment environment and undertake projects within its economic zones, industrial parks, and industrial clusters.
The newly formed Hưng Yên Province was established through the reorganisation of the entire natural area and population of the former Hưng Yên and Thái Bình provinces. The province is situated within the Northern Key Economic Region, with connections to Hà Nội, Hải Phòng, and Quảng Ninh Province. This area is home to major industrial centres featuring integrated infrastructure and a young, dynamic workforce.
In the first six months of 2025, Hưng Yên achieved an economic growth rate of 8.11 per cent, exceeding the national average.
Japan ranks first among foreign investors in Hưng Yên in terms of the number of projects, with 188 projects and total registered capital exceeding $6.16 billion.
Of these, 165 projects are operational, with a total realised investment of approximately $3.2 billion, creating jobs for around 35,800 workers and contributing approximately VND908 billion to the state budget in the first six months of 2025. VNS
