HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Industry and Trade has officially launched the ‘Digital Transformation Handbook for Traditional Market Vendors'.

According to the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, under the Ministry of Industry and Trade, digital transformation has become an inevitable trend across all areas of life.

However, traders in traditional markets, considered a vulnerable group in the digital ecosystem, face numerous challenges in adapting and thriving in this new environment.

The handbook is developed to equip traditional market vendors with essential knowledge of digital transformation. It shares practical tips for online selling from successful merchants and guides modern sales techniques to help increase revenue.

It is expected to be a powerful support tool that helps small-scale market businesses avoid being left behind in the digital economy’s development.

Lê Hoàng Oanh, director of the Vietnam E-commerce and Digital Economy Agency, said that, unlike academic materials, the handbook is written in an accessible way and illustrated with real-life stories.

Readers will see themselves in examples and specific guidance, such as ‘How to livestream effectively?’, ‘Why is careful packaging important?’ or ‘How to use e-wallets for fast and secure money transfers?'

Everything is presented step-by-step with vivid visual aids. The handbook guides how to use platforms like TikTok Shop, Shopee, Zalo OA, auto chatbots or QR code scanning. It also broadens vendors’ knowledge of budgeting, tracking profits and losses, and building a personal brand in the digital environment.

“These solutions help vendors save time, reduce costs and improve customer service quality, expanding their customer base and profits,” Oanh said.

The programme also aims to enhance digital awareness and break the psychological barrier of ‘not knowing technology'. It will empower small market vendors to reach broader markets and keep pace with modern business practices, such as livestream sales, QR code payments and chatbot customer support.

Oanh added that this handbook will not be a one-time publication. The Ministry of Industry and Trade will update it to keep pace with evolving technologies and changing consumer behaviour.
