BẮC GIANG — Bắc Giang City has once again affirmed its position as leading in the provincial 'One Commune, One Product' (OCOP) programme, with 25 new products earning three-star OCOP certification in the first part of 2025.

The People’s Committee of Bắc Giang City recently approved the evaluation and classification results, bringing the city’s total number of three-star OCOP products to 105 - the highest across Bắc Giang Province.

This achievement reflects ongoing efforts to promote local specialties and enhance product quality under the national OCOP framework.

The newly-certified items span a wide range, including processed foods, beverages, handicrafts and agricultural goods.

Among the notable products are frozen potatoes, traditional ham, sticky rice wine, dried chicken, pate, cereal sprout tea, lotus seed powder and cauliflower.

To qualify for OCOP certification, producers must meet rigorous standards, including innovation in production technology, improved product design and strict adherence to food hygiene and safety regulations.

Certified products are granted the right to use the official OCOP logo on packaging and receive support and incentives in line with government policies. Each certification remains valid for 36 months.

The City People’s Committee has tasked the Department of Agriculture and Environment with having guidance on standardised packaging and conducting regular inspections to ensure continued compliance and product quality.

The city’s consistent progress in both the quantity and quality of OCOP products underscores its commitment to building a sustainable rural economy. It also reflects a strategic focus on developing strong local brands and enhancing competitiveness in both domestic and foreign markets. — VNS
