Central city recognises strategic partners in semiconductor, AI

ĐÀ NẴNG – The Đà Nẵng City’s People’s Council has approved a strategic partnership recognition with two businesses – Marvell Việt Nam and FPT Group – to develop semiconductor and AI industries.

Its aim is to build the city into one of the three largest centres of semiconductor and AI industries in Việt Nam along with HCM City and Hà Nội.

These two businesses are the first partners accompanying with the city’s Master Plan intraining 5,000 engineers, including 2,000 chip designers, by 2030.

Marvell Việt Nam, under the Marvell Technology Inc of the US, is the first foreign invested company cooperating with the city in the global trend semiconductor manufacturing and human resource training.

The city has put into operation the Đà Nẵng Software Park No 2 – the fourth centralised information technology zone (CIZ) – providing working space for 6,000 IT engineers and investors in semiconductor, AI and micro chip design.

Đà Nẵng Software Park, Đà Nẵng IT Park, FPT Complex and Software Park 2 has already attracted 53,000 engineers in digital industries.

The Đà Nẵng Semiconductor & AI Research and Training and Centre (DSAC), in cooperation with partners Synopsys, Gasa Holdings, TreSemi and Intel Việt Nam, opened a training course for the top 80 trainees in the sector, and more than 400 students have been enrolled for human resources training programmes in the city since last year.

The city and Arizona State University have begun training in microchip design and Assembling, Testing and Packaging (ATP).

Key investors operating chip design and semiconductor including Synopsys, Uniquify, Renesas, Synapse (now is Quest Global), Sannei Hytechs, Mixel Việt Nam, Marvell Việt Nam, Sibridges Việt Nam from the US, Ideas2Silion Việt Nam, Korea, FPT Semiconductor and Viettel Hi-Tech Acronics have registered to operate in the city.
