NINH THUẬN — Ninh Thuận Province is urgently carrying its tasks to ensure the overall progress of a nuclear power project.

A Government leader reiterated that this is a key national project that requires unified resource mobilisation, and 2025 reserve funds will be used for the project, while further research will be conducted to secure additional funding.

Ninh Thuận Province will urgently finish land clearance and resettlement procedures for locals in the project area within this year, in order to hand over 1,600ha for construction.

Regarding the Ninh Thuận nuclear power project, the related tasks and responsibilities of the locality include propaganda work, creating consensus among the people for the project; land management; site clearance; support, resettlement and settlement are being urgently implemented by the province in a synchronous manner in order to complete the project by the end of 2025.

According to the Chairman of Ninh Thuận Provincial People's Committee Trần Quốc Nam, the nuclear power project consists of two plants with a capacity of about 4,000 MW.

Ninh Thuận No 1 Nuclear Power Plant is located in Phước Dinh Commune, Thuận Nam District and Ninh Thuận No 2 Nuclear Power Plant is located in Vĩnh Hải Commune, Ninh Hải District.

In the two communes where the nuclear power plants are planned to be built, there are about 600 households in the core area with over 1,600ha hectares of land in the planning area for clearance and resettlement.

To date, for Ninh Thuận No 1 Nuclear Power Plant, the province has issued a notice to reclaim land with an area of ​​more than 427ha from 501 households and provide resettlement support.

For Ninh Thuận No 2 Nuclear Power Plant, the province has issued a notice of land recovery for an area of ​​over 38ha.

The province has also established a resettlement area with an area of ​​235ha.

Vice Chairman of Ninh Thuận Provincial People's Committee Trịnh Minh Hoàng said that completing the clearance of all land this year is a huge challenge for the locality.

People are very supportive of the construction of the nuclear plant. However, land clearance during the construction period will greatly affect people's lives and livelihoods.

Therefore, the local authorities hopes that the Government will have specific mechanisms and policies for the province.  VNS
