HCM CITY — Prudential Vietnam Assurance Private Ltd has launched an emergency disaster relief package for children and families affected by floods and storms in the northern mountain provinces.

It is part of the Emergency and Disaster Relief project to which Prudential donated VNĐ1.5 billion (US$64,320) and co-operated with the National Fund for Vietnamese Children to implement.

In the past few months, heavy downpours and floods have caused severe damage in the northern mountains.

Prudential quickly provided support to four provinces - Hà Giang, Sơn La, Hoà Bình and Yên Bái - which suffered severe damages.

It donated essential commodities to help families and school supplies to students.

A total of 400 badly affected families with children were given VNĐ400 million.

Besides helping people overcome the aftermath of the disaster, Prudential has also undertaken activities to mitigate risks from natural disasters.

These include the donation of automatic rain gauges to Hà Giang and Yên Bái provinces last year. — VNS
