HCM CITY — AccorHotels is celebrating its 20th anniversary in HCM City since it launched its first luxury brand with the Sofitel Saigon Plaza in 1998.
Patrick Basset, chief operating officer of Upper Southeast & Northeast Asia and the Maldives, said: “In the past few decades Việt Nam has become one of the top travel destinations in the world attracting travellers to its lush mountains, bustling cities and golden sandy beaches.
“Despite rapid modernisation in Việt Nam’s urban centres of Hà Nội and HCM City, the numerous ancient landmarks and colonial structures are rich in indigenous architecture and reflect centuries-old mercantile influences.”
Việt Nam is gradually making its way onto the tourist map with its stunning scenery, ancient culture and famous hospitality.
Last year tourist arrivals at key destinations surged by 19 per cent to 86 million, with international visitor numbers increasing by 29 per cent.
AccorHotels currently has 28 properties across the country, 12 of which are in the luxury and upscale segment.
It plans to add 19 more to its portfolio in the next two years with the acquisition of Fairmont, Raffles, Swissôtel, and, most recently, Mövenpick.
It operates more than 4,600 hotels, resorts and residences in 100 countries. — VNS
