HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s TH Group, famous for its TH True Milk brand, on January 3, received 1,100 cows of high milk production imported from the US.
The cows were imported to TH Group’s US$2.7 billion hi-tech dairy farm complex in Ivanovskoe and Mikhailovskoe villages, Volokolask District, Moskva Province, Russia.
The cows were of purebred Holstein Friesian (HF) breed, selected with molecular genetics technology and under genealogical management for three generations.
The milk yield of the HF cow could be around 11-12 tonnes per head, per circle of 305 days, doubling the average milk yield of 5.5 tonnes per cow head in Russia.
All the cows imported were pregnant and ensured a quarantine check.
This is the first dairy project of Việt Nam in Russia and also the largest agricultural project invested by Việt Nam in Russia. The farm began construction in May 2016.
TH Group is also developing a dairy farm in Kaluga Province and is considering investment in Tyumen, Bashkortostan, and is preparing for investment in the Far East.
TH Group’s $2.7 billion dairy project in Russia has planned to develop a dairy herd of 350,000 heads, with a capacity of 5,900 tonnes of milk per day.
The group also planned to establish a chain of 300 True Mart stores in Russia.
Russia was facing a shortage of milk products, especially since 2014, when the import of milk from the United States to Europe was banned. — VNS
