BRISBANE — Vietjet has celebrated its first flights between HCM City and Brisbane, making it the first-ever carrier to fly directly between Việt Nam and Queensland on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Australia-Việt Nam diplomatic relations.
“Vietjet’s direct flights between the beautiful city of Brisbane and HCM City will ease the travel between the two localities, countries and across the region," Vietjet Chief Operating Officer Michael Hickey said at the official ceremony late last week.
The twice-weekly service on Mondays and Fridays will offer unlimited ticket promotions, Vietjet said.
Brisbane is the third largest city and known as the "New York" of Australia, with a blend of a young, vibrant city and natural scenery. Meanwhile, HCM City is the major economic, cultural and tourist centre of Việt Nam and the region. The city owns many unique Asian cultural features with modern bustling lifestyle while having convenient domestic connections across destinations in Việt Nam and globally.
The new service will contribute to promote tourism, bilateral trade between the two nations, expanding Vietjet’s network on the east coast of Australia, the most populous area of the country, with eight weekly return flights now servicing Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, according to Vietjet. — VNS
