Ring Road No. 3 expected to boost industrial development in southern key economic region

Ring Road No. 3 of Hồ Chí Minh City (HCM City), a national infrastructure priority, is expected to spur industrial growth in Long An Province and the southern key economic region by enhancing regional connectivity and supporting supply chains.

Stretching over 76 km, the road runs through HCM City, Đồng Nai, Bình Dương, and Long An, with an investment of more than VND75.3 trillion (US$2.96 billion). Construction began in June 2023, and efforts are underway to complete the Long An section in time for technical operation by Việt Nam's National Day on September 2, with the entire route slated for completion by 2026.

Although the section passing through Long An is only 6.8 km — the shortest in the project, it plays a strategic role by linking the HCM City–Trung Lương and Bến Lức–Long Thành expressways with the broader regional transportation corridor of Ring Road No. 3. The Mỹ Yên interchange (Bến Lức) is seen as a vital node, facilitating freight transport from Long An’s industrial zones and easing congestion on National Highway 1 and nearby roads.

Improved infrastructure is key to Long An’s emergence as a southern industrial hub. As a gateway connecting HCM City and the Southeast region with the Mekong Delta, Long An holds a strategic position. Following administrative restructuring, the province continues to benefit from strong economic momentum, with the second-highest average annual growth in the national Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) from 2005 to 2024.

Better infrastructure has helped Long An attract nearly 1,000 FDI-invested projects, most of which are concentrated in industrial zones. In addition to Ring Road No. 3, major infrastructure developments such as the Bến Lức–Long Thành Expressway and Ring Road 4 are laying the foundation for regional connectivity and investment inflows.

Once completed, Ring Road No. 3 is expected to fuel regional growth and unlock development opportunities for industrial parks along the route. With direct access to key transport corridors, the road will shorten delivery times, strengthen logistics connections, optimise supply chains, and boost investment efficiency.

Located near the Mỹ Yên interchange, Prodezi Industrial Park is one of the key beneficiaries of the project. Its unique location enables tenants to easily access seaports, international airports, and major consumption hubs in HCM City and the Mekong Delta, including Long An International Port, Hiệp Phước Port, and Long Thành International Airport.

Trương Khắc Nguyên Minh, Deputy General Director of Prodezi Long An, said: "Prodezi is not merely an industrial zone — it is designed as a strategic platform for businesses looking to expand and integrate their operations within the southern economic region. As Long An enters a new development phase following its planned merger with Tây Ninh, we aim to build a resilient, sustainable industrial ecosystem aligned with regional infrastructure."

Beyond infrastructure advantages, Prodezi is also among the first projects designed as an eco-industrial park. The project follows a circular economy model and aims to minimise emissions throughout its operational lifecycle in line with international standards. All wastewater will be treated to meet environmental standards, with at least 25% reused on-site. Clean and renewable sources are set to account for a minimum of 20% of total energy consumption.

With its integrated infrastructure, sustainable orientation, and strategic location, Prodezi is emerging as a model for next-generation industrial parks in Long An, attracting FDI investors seeking high operational efficiency and environmental commitments, particularly in high-tech and green industries.
