Dung crucial to team at AFC Women’s Cup

HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese midfielder Nguyễn Thị Tuyết Dung is one of the eight important players at the upcoming Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Women’s Asian Cup Jordan 2018.

This was announced on AFC’s official website, the-afc.com.

Before the event kicks off in April, the website took a look at the players who will play a pivotal role for their respective teams.

The website described Dung as a winger blessed with pace and skill, who regularly pulled the creative strings and added four goals of her own as Việt Nam ran riot to find the net 27 times in four qualifying matches.

Dung won the Việt Nam Player of the Year award in 2014 and was a runner-up in 2015 and 2017.

Besides Dung, the website mentions Maysa Jbarah of Jordan, Wang Shuang of China, Kanjana Sung-Ngoen of Thailand, Sara Castaneda of the Philippines, Saki Kumagai of Japan, Sam Kerr of Australia, and Ji So-yun of South Korea.

At the AFC event, Việt Nam are in Group B, together with the continental powerhouses of defending champions Japan, South Korea and Australia.

Việt Nam will play against Japan on April 7, followed by Australia on April 11, and South Korea two days later. — VNS
