HÀ NỘI (VNS)— Prime Minister Nguyễn Tấn Dũng has just approved Hà Nội’s transport plan for 2030 with a vision towards 2050, allowing the development of eight Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) routes citywide.

According to the plan, buses still account for a major part of the transport market share of Hà Nội’s public transport system.

The eight BRT routes stretch across more than 200km, covering the Kim Mã-Lê Văn Lương-Yên Nghĩa, Ngọc Hồi-Phú Xuyên and Sơn Đồng-Ba Vì routes.

The plan states that BRTs can be applied on several urban railway systems that have yet to be constructed, including the Phù Đổng-Bát Tràng-Hưng Yên, Ứng Hòa-Phú Xuyên and Sơn Tây-Hòa Lạc-Xuân Mai routes.

The BRT system can also be developed on some roads that have adequate conditions in terms of infrastructure, depending on traffic conditions in each period.

Seven intercity bus stations will be built in the city’s central areas in the Hà Đông, Gia Lâm, Thanh Trì and Đông Anh districts, as well as the Đan Phượng, Quốc Oai and Sóc Sơn districts, besides some others in the city’s satellite urban areas.

The Prime Minister also approved the upgrade of existing bus stations at Mỹ Đình, Nước Ngầm, Giáp Bát, Gia Lâm and Thường Tín and the construction of Xuân Mai bus station.

Three other bus stations are planned for construction in the middle-term period in the Hoàng Mai, Từ Liêm and Đông Anh districts. — VNS
