HÀ NỘI — Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong and his spouse will pay an official visit to Việt Nam from March 21-24.

The visit is being made at the invitation of Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

Diplomatic relations between the two countries began in the 1990s and developed into strategic partnership in 2013.

Singapore is Việt Nam’s third largest foreign investor, with a total investment of over US$38 billion in 1,600 projects covering processing, technology, production, real estate, construction, transport and logistics.

The country is also the 12th biggest trade partner of Việt Nam, with two-way trade doubling in the last decade, hitting nearly $16 billion in 2016. — VNS
