HÀ NỘI — The Vietnamese Government welcomes stronger co-operation between IT firms in Việt Nam and Angola, Deputy Prime Minister Vũ Đức Đam told visiting Angolan Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technologies, Jose Carvalho da Rocha.

During a meeting with the Angolan official in Hà Nội on Tuesday, Deputy PM Đam hailed the friendship between the two nations, which he said was supported by the effective co-operation in telecom, IT, information safety and human resources training.

The Vietnamese Government encourages businesses in both countries to seek co-operation opportunities in technology transfer, he said.

According to the Deputy PM, telecommunication and IT have become a spearhead technical-economic sector for Việt Nam, yielding estimated revenues of US$16 billion over the past two decades.

He called on the Angolan government to create favourable conditions for Vietnamese enterprises, including telecom and IT firms, to invest in the African country.

For his part, Jose Carvalho da Rocha assured his host that Angola values Vietnamese business investment, especially in telecom, IT and training of human resources. The guest also met with Minister of Information and Communications, Trương Minh Tuấn, and visited leading telecom and IT enterprises and production plants. — VNS
