HÀ NỘI — As well as shiny gold medals around their necks, Việt Nam’s triumphant women’s football team will also be in the money!
After winning the SEA Games on Sunday following a 1-0 victory over Thailand, Nguyễn Ngọc Thiện, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism; the Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF); Hưng Thịnh Group; Director Lê Văn Kiểm of Long Thanh Golf Development Company awarded the team VNĐ1 billion ($43,500) each.
Phạm Thanh Hùng, head of women's football department of the VFF gave the team VNĐ1.5 billion ($65,200).
The team also received prizes from other individuals and enterprises such as Cửu Long Pharmaceutical Joint Stock Company, Bảo Hưng Company, Việt Nam Women’s Union and Mebipha Company.
Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc also asked enterprises and individuals to award every female footballer a motorcycle.
Earlier, following the good result in the qualifying round, the female team were also given VNĐ3 billion ($130,400).
Now, the team have the total bonus of around VNĐ10 billion ($434,700). And this figure is likely to rise.
It is the sixth time, Việt Nam have won this title. They triumphed in 2001, 2003, 2005, 2009, 2017 and 2019. — VNS
