HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam placed third at the 2019 World Taekwondo Poomsae Championships, which concluded in China on Friday.
The team collected a total of four gold medals, nine silvers and eight bronzes.
on Friday, Việt Nam won three of its gold medals, two silvers and two bronzes in the creative poomsae category.
The gold medalists are Nguyễn Đình Khôi and Nguyễn Thị Mộng Quỳnh in the men’s individual category and the creative poomsae team (Châu Tuyết Vân, Nguyễn Thị Lệ Kim, Nguyễn Thiên Phụng, Hứa Văn Huy, Lê Thanh Trung and Quỳnh).
In the standard poomsae event earlier in the competition, Việt Nam won one gold medal, seven silvers and six bronzes.
The champions in each division received US$10,000 in prize money.
Hosted by the World Taekwondo Federation, the tournament featured 286 athletes from 10 countries. Việt Nam sent 31 martial artists to the event in China. — VNS
