HÀ NỘI Park Hang-seo on Thursday announced his preliminary national team squad for the 2022 World Cup qualifier with Thailand next month.
The South Korean coach selected 27 players, including five strikers, 10 midfielders, nine defenders and three goalkeepers. The squad must be trimmed to 23 players at a later date.
Among them, defenders Lâm Anh Quang of Nam Định and Nguyễn Hữu Tuấn of HCM City have received their first call-ups.
Young players who have shone domestically like Đỗ Thanh Thịnh of SHB Đà Nẵng and striker Nguyễn Hoàng Đức of Viettel have also been selected.
Hà Nội FC defender Đoàn Văn Hậu was also selected despite being injured.
Familiar names like midfielder Nguyễn Quang Hải, defender Đỗ Duy Mạnh, striker Nguyễn Công Phượng and senior forward Nguyễn Anh Đức have also made the list.
