HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF)’s Deputy Chairman of Finance Cấn Văn Nghĩa resigned yesterday, the VFF confirmed.

Nghĩa, former director of the Mỹ Đình National Sports Complex, was elected as the VFF's vice president of finance last December.

Nghĩa had been experiencing difficulties finding sponsors and stabilising the finances for the VFF.

He was also under pressure after being caught up in a tax scandal while still serving as director of Mỹ Đình National Sports Complex.

VFF Chairman Lê Khánh Hải said he would appoint other members to cover Nghĩa's role before appointing a replacement in early July. — VNS
