HÀ NỘI — Former national champion Phạm Minh Tuấn of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City won his first match in the men’s singles at the VTF Pro Tour in Bình Định Province yesterday.

Unseeded Tuấn easily beat Phạm Hoàng Hiếu of Đà Nẵng 6-0, 6-0.

Tuấn’s teammate Nguyễn Quang Vinh also beat Trần Trọng Tín of Becamex Bình Dương 6-1, 6-1.

Hà Nội had a good start yesterday. Nguyễn Thị Thanh Loan defeated Nguyễn Thu Phương of Bắc Giang 6-2, 6-1. Nguyễn Thị Mai Linh bested Tòng Thị Nguyên of Sơn La 6-3, 6-2. Hoàng Bảo Long overcame Phạm Quốc Vỹ of Becamex Bình Dương 6-3, 6-2, while Lã Xuân Hậu also beat Nguyễn Nhật Quang of Hưng Thịnh – HCM City 6-0, 5-7, 6-2.

Today, No 1 seed Nguyễn Văn Phương of Becamex Bình Dương will face teammate Đinh Viết Tuấn Minh, and No 2 seed Hoàng Thành Trung of Hải Đăng Tây Ninh will take on Lã Xuân Hậu of Hà Nội.

The event has attracted 55 players from six teams across the country.

The event aims to select the best players for the national team for upcoming Davis Cup matches and the Southeast Asian Games.

It is being organised by the VTF and the provincial Department of Culture and Sports and will run until April 7. — VNS
