HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam women’s national football team beat hosts Myanmar 1-0 in a friendly on Thursday.
Nguyễn Thị Vạn collected a ball from her captain Huỳnh Như and netted with a strong finish in the 51st minute at Mandalarthiri Stadium in Mandalay City.
Coach Mai Đức Chung was pleased with the result and praised his players’ performance and spirit, saying they had followed tactical instructions and fought hard until the end of the match.
The two teams will meet again on March 23.
The Vietnamese team with return home the next day and will have four days of training in Hà Nội before departing for the second qualifying round for the Tokyo Olympics in Uzbekistan, to be held from April 3-7. — VNS
