Việt Nam’s basketball team Saigon Heat lost to Westports Malaysia Dragons 76-80 at the away turf, MABA Stadium at the ASEAN Basketball League on Sunday.

HÀ NỘI — The Saigon Heat lost to Westports Malaysia Dragons 80-76 at the MABA Stadium in the ASEAN Basketball League on Sunday.

The hosts started strongly with Chris Eversley scoring nine points, Nnanna Egwu (six points) and Winston Shepard (nine points) in the first quarter to give the Dragons a 26-16 lead.

However, the Heat fought back and narrowed the gap to 37-35 in Q2.

The Heat maintained their drive in the third quarter with three-pointers from De Angelo Hamilton, Chris Dierker and Kyle Barone to take the lead at 54-59.

But the Dragons fought back strongly in the final quarter to win 76-74.

Following the loss, the Heat are now in fourth place with 11 wins and eight losses. The Dragons are in eighth with six wins and 10 losses. San Miguel Alab Pilipinas lead the league with 15 wins and three losses.

The Heat will next take on CLS Knights Indonesia on March 13. — VNS
