HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam Football Federation’s eighth congress will take place on December 8 with Lê Khánh Hải as the sole candidate for president of the organisation.
Hải is currently Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
The congress will also vote for three vice presidents and 13 members of the executive committee who will run the federation from 2018-22.
The congress was scheduled for earlier this year but has been delayed for different reasons including human resources.
In other news from the VFF, each club competing in the V.League in 2019 will be able to field three foreign players instead of two. Clubs that participate in Asian tournaments will be allowed to have four foreigners including one from Asia.
According to General Secretary Lê Hoài Anh, it was a reasonable and fair rule as most teams at the AFC Champions League and the AFC Cup had the same number of foreigners.
He added that foreign players also lured the attention of supporters as well as increased the competitiveness of the tournament. — VNS
