HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s top tennis player Lý Hoàng Nam was ousted from the men’s singles in the second round of the ATP Kobe Challenger in Japan on Wednesday.
Nam lost to Yun-Seong Chung of South Korea 4-6, 2-6 after one hour and 17 minutes.
Nam is world No 385, while Chung is world No 298.
Earlier, the southern province of Tây Ninh-born player beat Nam Ji-sung of South Korea, world No 298, 6-7(4) 7-6(9) 6-2 in the first round.
With this result, Nam will gain six points in the ATP rankings and receive US$1,000.
The event has a total prize fund of US$50,000, drawing players in the world’s top 300 including top seed Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan, ranked 81 in the world. — VNS
