HÀ NỘI — HCM City FC have signed defender Đinh Viết Tú from their V.League 1 rivals Nam Định, for a cool VNĐ3billion (US$130,400).

Tú played for his hometown team for 14 years, and will earn VNĐ35million ($1,500) per month on a three-year deal in HCM City, according to a source.

Tú has said goodbye to his native club, V.League 1’ side Nam Định after 14 years of playing.

The 26-year-old contributed a great deal to his former side.

Tú scored the only goal to help Nam Định beat Viettel 1-0 in the V.League 2 final in 2017 to secure promotion to the V.League 1 and scored the winning penalty in the 2018 V.League 1 playoff against Hà Nội B to keep his side in the top division.

“I received an invitation to compete for a southern club and Nam Định’s leaders agreed to let me go. The career of a professional footballer is not long so I am forced to take this decision to take care of my family,” said Tú.

During the process of preparing for the AFF Cup 2018, coach Park Hang-seo called Tú into his preliminary Việt Nam quad, but the defender didn’t make the final cut. — VNS
