HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam’s Phạm Ngọc Kiên won gold at the third World Taijiquan Championships in Bulgaria yesterday.
He overcame Nicolas Nicolas of Indonesia and Javad Nouri of Iran to top the podium.
Taijiquan or tai chi is an ancient Chinese form of exercise originally created as a fighting art.
His teammate Phạm Nguyễn Hoài Nam came third in the third set taijiquan C-B.
Taijijian is tai chi with a straight double-edged sword.
Nguyễn Trọng Lâm also finished second to grab a silver in the men’s 42 Movements Taijijian C-A.
The Vietnamese team also won bronze medal through Trần Thị Khánh Ly in the Women’s Optional Taijijian C-B.
The championships kicked off on September 25 and will close today. — VNS
