HÀ NỘI — The Việt Nam team continued their opening success on the second day of the 43rd Batumi Chess Olympiad in Batumi City, Georgia.

In the men’s group, Lê Quang Liêm, Trần Tuấn Minh, Nguyễn Anh Khôi and Đào Thiên Hải beat Iraq 2.5-1.5.

After their second consecutive victory, the men rank 21st with 6.5 points. Their next rivals will be Bangladesh, who are 64th.

In the women’s group, Võ Thị Kim Phụng, Phạm Lê Thảo Nguyên, Nguyễn Thị Mai Hưng and Bạch Ngọc Thùy Dương beat ICCD team 4-0.

The team have 8 points and rank third in the table. They will meet Lithuania late tonight.

On Monday night, the men defeated Chinese Taipei 4-0, while the women overcame Honduras. — VNS
