HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese athlete Vũ Thị Ngọc Hà won a gold medal in the triple jump yesterday at the 2018 Asian Indoor Atheletics Championship, being held in Gifu City of Japan.

Hà set the record of 13,22m, out jumping China’s best hope Pan Youqui by approximately one centimetre.

Despite Pan’s continued violations, Hà kept her nerve and beat the opponent with her massive jump.

Competeting in this year’s championships, the Việt Nam team sent seven athletes, including Cao Võ Ngọc Long in men’s high jump event, Vũ Thị Ngọc Hà in triple jump, Nguyễn Văn Châu in 200m and 400m, Nguyễn Trung Cường in 1500m and 3000m steeplechase, Phạm Thị Thúy Hạnh in 1500m , Huỳnh Thị Mỹ Tiên in 100m hurdling and Nguyễn Lan Anh in high jump and women’s medley.

In men’s steeplechase, Cường passed the qualifying round in the time of 4:00.37. — VNS
