VTF Pro Tour 3 opens with rousing matches

ĐÀ NẴNG — A number of thrilling tennis matches kicked off the VTF Pro Tour 3 - 3rd Open Vietravel Cup 2018 on June 5 at the Tuyên Sơn Sports Palace in Đà Nẵng.

Youthful Dương Thiên Quang from Hưng Thịnh ‒ HCM City crushed Nguyễn Duy Nam from the Vĩnh Phúc team, 6-0, 6-1, while former second seed Bùi Trí Nguyễn from Hải Đăng Tây Ninh took little time in beating Nguyễn Văn Sơn from Vĩnh Phúc, 6-0, 6-3.

Lê Khắc Tùng Lâm of hosts Đà Nẵng beat Nguyễn Trường Thịnh from Hải Đăng Tây Ninh, 7-5, 4-0.

Vũ Artem of Becamex Bình Dương and Hà Nội’s Nguyễn Hoàng Minh thrilled crowds with an up-and-down match. After losing the first set 6-2, Minh won four straights games to take a 4-0 lead against Vũ in the second set.

However, Vũ fought back, taking the last six games of the set to win, 6-4.

The top seeds will play their first matches the following day, with Trịnh Linh Giang facing Vũ Hà Minh Đức from Hà Nội and Phạm Minh Tuấn going up against Vũ Văn Toàn.

The VTF Pro Tour 3 is co-organised by the Việt Nam Tennis Federation and the Đà Nẵng City Tennis Federation.

Eleven teams, including Becamex Bình Dương, Hà Nội, People’s Policeman and Hải Dương, are participating in the tournament. Army, Đà Nẵng, Ninh Thuận, and Hưng Thịnh – TPHCM are also fielding teams, along with Vĩnh Phúc, Hải Đăng - Tây Ninh, and Thanh Hóa.

Players compete in four categories – men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles and women’s doubles. — VNS
