HÀ NỘI — HCM City topped the medal tally at the National Age Groups Swimming Championship, which concluded in Đà Nẵng yesterday.
The squad brought home 64 medals ---30 golds, 20 silvers and 14 bronzes. The National Defence Sports Centre 5 finished second with 25 golds, 11 silvers and 15 bronzes. Quảng Bình came third with 11 golds, nine silvers and five bronzes.
Eleven national records were broken on the last day of the competition.
Among the winners, Trần Hùng Nguyễn of Centre 5 broke the national record in the boys’ 100m backstroke in the 14-15 age category, with a time of 59.59 seconds, beating the old record of 1:00.78 set by Nguyễn Trần Hùng of Centre 5 in the same event last year.
Nguyễn broke another record in the 400m individual medley after clocking a time of 4:26.12. The old record in this category was 4:29.42 by Nguyễn Hữu Kim Sơn of An Giang last year.
The four-day event saw the participation of 230 swimmers from 29 teams across the country. — VNS
