HÀ NỘI — The National Defence Sports Centre 5 topped the medal tally after the first day of competition of the National Age Groups Swimming Championship in Đà Nẵng yesterday.
The centre’s swimmers shone with eight golds, two silvers and two bronzes. HCM City are second with six golds, four silvers and four bronzes, while Quảng Bình sit third with six golds, two silvers and one bronze.
The event saw 10 national records broken, of which four were smashed by swimmers of National Defence Sports Centre 5.
Meanwhile, in the boys’ 50m breaststroke aged 14-15, Trần Hùng Nguyên of Centre 5 seized a gold medal after clocking a time of 31.51secs. Lê Hoàng Minh Anh of HCM City and Nguyễn Hoàng Khang of Vĩnh Long took silver and bronze, respectively.
On the girls’ side, Nguyễn Thị Nhật Lâm of Vĩnh Long triumphed with a time of 34.10secs. Hanoian Vương Thị Thu Phương and Mai Gia Hân of HCM City were the runners-up.
In the boys’ 50m breaststroke in the 13 and under age group, gold went to Lê Trọng Phúc of An Giang after he finished with a time of 31.88secs, followed by Hồ Nguyễn Duy Khoa of Centre 5 and Phạm Hoàng Nam of Tiền Giang.
While Nguyễn Ngọc Phương Vy brought HCM City a gold medal in the girls’ side. She defeated Lê Thị Như Quỳnh of Đà Nẵng and Võ Thị Mỹ Tiền of Long An to lead with a time of 35.72secs.
