HÀ NỘI  — Trịnh Đức Tâm won the 18th stage of the HCM City Television Cycling Tournament yesterday.

Tâm of Gạo Hạt Ngọc Trời-An Giang won the 51km stage around Hồ Xuân Hương Lake in Đà Lạt City in a time of 1:04.31.

Trần Nguyễn Duy Nhân of the Military Zone 7 and Nguyễn Minh Việt of BTV Đại Nam-Bình Dương were the runners-up.

Alex Ariya Phounsavath of VUS-HCM City holds the yellow jersey for the best overall time after 18 stages with a time of 41:46.43, followed by Lê Ngọc Sơn of Gạo Hạt Ngọc Trời-An Giang and Nguyễn Nhật Nam of Domesco Pharmacy Đồng Tháp.

Lê Nguyệt Minh of Domesco Pharmacy Đồng Tháp has the green jersey as best sprinter, while Minh’s teammate, Nam holds the white jersey as best young cyclist.

In the team rankings, Domesco Pharmacy Đồng Tháp lead with a time of 123:15.39. VUS-TP.HCM and Gạo Hạt Ngọc Trời-An Giang are second and third, respectively.

Today, cyclists will compete in the 19th stage from Đà Lạt City to Bảo Lộc City lasting 110km.

Seventy-eight cyclists from 13 teams are competing across 20 stages totalling 2,000km in the event which offers the biggest prize in Vietnamese cycling history: VNĐ1.2 billion (US$52,200). — VNS
