HÀ NỘI — The Vietnamese team ranked second in the medal tally at the Southeast Asian (SEA) Pencak Silat Championships which wrapped up in Malaysia on Sunday.
The team brought home five golds, five silvers and seven bronzes, out of which Hanoian martial artists contributed four golds, two silvers and one bronze.
Việt Nam sent 13 players to compete in the combat and performance category of the tournament which saw the hosts topping the rankings.
The event, which drew the participation of nine countries including Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia, was a warm-up for martial artists heading to August’s SEA Games to be held in Malaysia.
In other news, Hanoian jujitsu martial artists won two bronze medals at the World Junior Jujitsu Championships in Greece that also concluded on Sunday.
Jujjtsu is a type of kung fu which will be on show at the upcoming Asian Martial Arts Games 2017 and Asian Games next year in Indonesia. — VNS
