 HÀ NỘI — HCM City’s first every Muay Thai (Thai boxing) fight night will be held at Gem Centre, District 1, in HCM City today.

According to Giáp Trung Thang, general secretary of HCM City Muay Association, the tournament aims to develop Muay Thai in Việt Nam.

The competition will include three matches featuring professional fighters.

Vietnamese fighter Nguyễn Thanh Tùng, who won gold medals at the National Youth Traditional Martial Arts Championships in 2013 and 2014, will face 63 kg-weight-class Thai champion Tewin Palasak.

In another match, Bành Chí Hồng, who won bronze at the HCM City International Martial Arts Festival 2016, will compete with Japanese-Canadian fighter Leo Shoji.

Finally, Siu Athen from California fitness & yoga centre will fight Trần Thanh Ý from HCM City Muay Association, who pocketed a bronze medal at Asian Muay Thai Asian Championships 2013. — VNS
